Amanda has been an elementary music teacher at Fred Varley Public School since 2015. She teaches music to students from kindergarten to grade 8, directing several choirs and instrumental band ensembles. The instrumental ensembles have consistently earned Platinum ratings at Music Alive. She is also the mastermind behind the annual, school-wide musicals which have included original productions!
Amanda has also served as a conductor for the Markham Area East band since 2017.
Amanda is a graduate of Queen's University where she studied music education and piano. In her spare time, she runs a private piano studio, dances, and hangs out with her husband and two kids.
Elizabeth has been an elementary music teacher with the York Region District School Board since 2001. At every school she has been at, she has made an incredible impact on not just the music program, but the entire school community. Currently she teaches instrumental music at Castlemore Public School, and leads several bands and choirs, helping them reach their maximum potential. Her musical groups have performed at local, provincial and national festivals, consistently receiving top ratings. In 2017 and 2018, Castlemore performed at Musicfest Canada receiving Gold ratings. More recently, in 2023, the Castlemore Wind Ensemble was awarded first place in the Ontario Music Festivals Associations Provincial Finals.
Region wide, she has been one of 4 conductors for the Markham Area East band from 2010-present, who tour elementary schools sharing the joy of instrumental music with participants and audience throughout Markham.
Elizabeth has also been actively involved in the Salvation Army, leading the Yorkminster Children’s Choir from 2011-2022. In addition, she also led a regional children’s choir within the Salvation Army from 2013-2017. In 2019, she became a key leader in the development of the Yorkminster Music Academy in Toronto. This academy sought to educate and share the joy of music with others in the community.
In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her husband, Greg, and their three children, Brendan, Ryan and Caitlin.
Greg has been the Head of Music at Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School, in Markham, since 2004. During this time, the program has seen great growth, currently seeing over 600 students taking music. Greg is the conductor of the Grade 11 Wind Symphony, Grade 12 Wind Symphony, and a staff advisor for the Music Council. In February of 2019, he made his conducting debut at Carnegie Hall, with the Grade 12 Wind Symphony. Greg is also currently a sessional lecturer at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Music, in instrumental rehearsing and conducting techniques. Previously, he has been a sessional lecturer at the University of Toronto, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, in instrumental music. In December of 2019, he made his conducting debut with the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra. At the 2013 Musicfest Canada “The Nationals”, Greg was awarded the Keith Mann Award, as outstanding band director at the festival.
Greg is a graduate of the University of Toronto, both at the Faculty of Music where he studied music education and trumpet, and at OISE. He has led presentations at the OMEA conference on ensemble tone and teaching intonation, and his articles have been published by the Ontario Band Association. He is active as a clinician, conductor and adjudicator throughout Ontario.
In the Salvation Army, Greg is the bandmaster of the Yorkminster Citadel Band, which currently has grown to just over 30 members, ranging in age from 13 to 85. Greg is happily married to his wife Elizabeth and together they have 3 wonderful children, Brendan, Ryan and Caitlin.
